This is an 18 year old Highland single malt from Edradour, distilled in 2007 and bottled at 46%. It matured in first-fill Amarone hogsheads that came from the Valpolicella region of Italy.
The Amarone casks give the whisky the character of the red wine while leaving the Edradour spirit recognisable.
The nose offers ripe black cherries and dark forest berries with spicy oak. The palate is velvety, with berries and dark chocolate, and the finish is long, dry and peppery, with fine tannins.
