Edradour – 2007 12 Year Old Triebaumer Mariental Finish (70cl, 57.5%)

This Edradour single malt was distilled in 2007 and bottled at 12 years old, at 57.5% vol., in a 70cl bottle. Only 408 bottles were filled. It was matured first in a bourbon cask, then finished in Blaufränkisch Mariental casks from the Burgenland winemaker Ernst Triebaumer. The nose is sharp with alcohol at first, then opens after a few minutes to vanilla, summer fruits and light wood. The palate starts bold and strong, then turns creamier and sweeter, with dark fruit, vanilla and rich, heavy, bitter forest honey. The finish is long and warming. A few drops of water open up the aromas further.
