Edradour – Ballechin 10 Years Old (46%)

Ballechin 10 Years Old is the core expression of the heavily peated single malt made at Edradour, bottled at 46%. The name comes from the silent Ballechin distillery near Edradour. Earlier Ballechin releases formed part of The Discovery Series and were matured in a range of casks, including sherry, bourbon and several wine types. This 10 year old is a vatting of ex-Oloroso sherry and ex-bourbon casks. The nose combines oily malt, burnt ends and barbecue char with touches of apple and fig. The palate brings chewy dates and oak, with smouldering peat adding spicy heat, and a hint of ash stays on the finish.
