Shin Serene is a Japanese blended whisky from Eigashima, made by the toji, who is also chief executive of the Eigashima sake brewery. It is named after Mr. Hiraishi, the eighth generation of Eigashima Shuzo.
The blend is made from whisky aged 3 years in sherry, bourbon and Japanese shochu barrels. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
Amber in colour, it has orange peel, honey and pepper on the nose. The palate is oily, with citrus, vanilla and light honey and a slightly spicy edge. The finish recalls peaches and almonds, with honey and a mellow aftertaste.
