Elsburn The Journey 12 Year Old is a single malt from the Hercynian Distilling Co. at Hammerschmiede in Zorge, in the Harz. It is the first bottling of The Journey to carry an age statement, and it sits alongside the annual vintage editions as a standard expression.
The spirit was made from barley and chocolate malt and matured only in first-fill casks that had held sherry, port, marsala and Málaga. It was bottled in 2024 as Batch 1 at 46%, rather than the 43% of the vintage editions, in a run of 1,000 bottles. It is natural in colour and not chill-filtered.
