Elsburn Wayfare Batch 003 is a vatting of malts from five types of cask, bottled at cask strength of 58.2% in 2023. The components are between four and eleven years old. Half come from sherry hogsheads, the other half from port, Marsala, Malaga and Grand Cru Claret hogsheads. The outturn is 3,840 bottles, and Wayfare is one of Elsburn's annual special releases. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The nose opens with fruit cake and baked raisins, then sweet berries, speculoos biscuits and light caramel cream. The palate is powerful yet soft, with raisin biscuits, meringue, sweet grapes and candied fruit. The medium finish holds chocolate and oak, with fruit lingering.
