Farthofer – Single Cask Braugerste & Roggen (50cl, 52.1%)

This is a single cask whisky from the Austrian Farthofer distillery, made from malting barley and Schlägler rye in a 50cl bottle. The grain was grown on the Birdwiese Acker and Obere Erlgrube fields and harvested in 2014/15. It matured for four to five years in a Mostello cask, which previously held the distillery's pear dessert wine. It was bottled in October 2019 at a cask strength of 52.1%, without chill-filtration or added colour, as 189 numbered bottles. A red wax seal closes the clear bottle. The nose offers fruity cider notes, vanilla, apple must, hay and a little fermented fruit. The palate brings spice, honey sweetness, nettles and meadow herbs. The long finish is lightly prickly, with pear must, mint and nettles.
