Fernet-Branca is an Italian amaro bottled at 39% in a 75cl bottle. It comes from a recipe created in Milan in 1845 and is made by Fratelli Branca Distillerie.
A grape-based spirit is infused with 27 herbs, roots and spices from four continents. The blend then rests for at least a year in large Slovenian oak vats before bottling.
The nose is peppermint and menthol with coffee bean, camomile and citrus zest. The palate is bitter and dry, with gentian, dark chocolate, dried plum and saffron, and a little sweetness from orange peel. The finish is long and peppery, with peppermint and a dry herbal bitterness.
