This is a Fettercairn 18 Year Old single malt bottled by Thompson Bros at 54.2%. It was distilled in 2008 and matured in refill hogsheads, and only 226 bottles were released.
The nose is fresh and malty, with sweet grist, potted geraniums, a floral perfume note and crisp underripe peaches, nectarines and apple cores. The palate is fuller than the nose suggests, with baked pear pie, vanilla custard and a little nutmeg. The finish brings ground white pepper, stewed pears, quince paste and sweet malt.
