Fielden – Harvest 2020 Rye Whisky (50%)

Fielden Harvest 2020 is a rye whisky and the second release in Fielden's annual Harvest series, which looks at how each growing season shapes the grain. In 2020 a wet early spring was followed by a hot, dry summer, and the ripe grain from that year is the foundation of this bottling. The mash was 73% rye, 18% wheat and 9% malted barley from Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Gloucestershire and Norfolk, double distilled through pot and column stills. It matured for a minimum of 47 months across seven casks: new American oak, old American oak and ex-wine STR. It was reduced to 50% ABV, and 2,004 bottles were filled. The nose offers apple strudel, banoffee and roasted lemon. On the palate come flaky pastry, biscoff and malted cereals, and the finish brings ginger, cinnamon and a trace of cardamom.
