Florentis Tuscan Malt Whisky Primo Single Cask (Velier Live 2024) (70cl, 50%)

Florentis Primo is the first single cask bottling from Winestillery, the Chianti Classico distillery founded by the Chioccioli Altadonna family. It was selected for Velier Live 2024 and bottled at 50% in an edition of 318 bottles. The spirit was distilled in 2020 from Italian barley, rye and wheat, fermented spontaneously for six days and run through a copper hybrid Frilli still. It then spent four years in a 225-litre Tuscan oak barrique that previously held Super Tuscan red wine, and was bottled in 2024. Honey and vanilla lead the nose, followed by ripe red fruit, tobacco leaf, saffron and a light iodine note. The palate has dark spice, pepper, caramel, cocoa beans and ground coffee, and the finish is long and spicy, with a phenolic return.
