Puni Vina is an Italian single malt matured for five years in ex-Marsala Vergine wine casks from Sicily. It is bottled at 43% in a 75cl bottle.
Puni distils in Glorenza, in South Tyrol, using copper pot stills made by Forsyths of Scotland. The mash combines malted barley, wheat and rye grown locally in the Val Venosta, and the warm Alpine summers and harsh winters speed up the exchange between spirit and wood.
The nose brings cinnamon, dark rye bread, worn leather and plum sauce, with dark red fruit. On the palate come raspberry, black grape and cherry syrup, then walnut and sultana. The finish is long and dry, with baking spices, raisin and orange peel.
