Foursquare Detente is a Barbados rum distilled in 2010 in both pot still and twin column Coffey still. It was aged for ten years in ex-bourbon and ex-port casks and bottled in August 2020 at 51% vol. It is the fourteenth edition of the Exceptional Cask Selection series and is a blend. The Foursquare distillery is family-owned and traces its roots on Barbados to the 1650s.
The nose brings redcurrant, strawberry, baked apple, vanilla, pepper and coconut. The palate is full-bodied and complex, with fruit, raisin, dark chocolate and vanilla alongside spicy oak. The finish is long, warming and intense, with fruit, oak and raisin.
