Case Study 02 is an experimental release from Frank August, built on a Kentucky straight bourbon. It is finished in XO Pedro Ximénez brandy casks and bottled at 50.5% (101 proof) in the brand's minimalist decanter, in a 750ml size.
The finish is not part of the brand's core lineup, and the release was made in small quantities.
It is a rich mahogany colour with ruby highlights. The nose offers raisin, fig, dark cherry, cacao, toasted oak and soft vanilla. The palate is full and layered, with plum, caramelised sugar, cocoa, seasoned oak and gentle spice. The finish is long and warm, with lingering dried fruit and oak.
