A Bonarda DOC from Giorgi, made from Croatina grapes grown on clay soils in Oltrepò Pavese. It has an intense ruby colour with violet reflections. The nose is dominated by plum and blackberry, with cherry in spirit, vanilla and black pepper from ageing in wood barrels. On the palate it is pleasantly complex, with balanced acidity and non-invasive tannins, a medium-full body and a persistent finish returning to fruity and spicy tones. It suits mushroom risotto, game and aged cheeses, and is best served at 16-18 C.
