Giribaldi Caj Barbera d'Alba

This is an organic Barbera d'Alba from the Giribaldi family estate, made from the Caj vineyard near Alba. The Caj vineyard covers 3.96 hectares at 380 metres, faces south-south-west and has chalky marl soil. It is planted only with Barbera of several Italian origins. After eleven days of maceration with frequent pumping over, the wine rests briefly in stainless steel, then spends about eight months in oak and at least three months in bottle. It is ruby red, with violets and cherry on the nose. The palate is dry, warm and spicy, with a touch of vanilla, red-fleshed fruit and a fresh acidity.
