Glasgow 1770 Peated Cask Strength Batch 3 (70cl, 61%)

The third cask-strength release of Glasgow 1770's peated house style, distilled in 2018 and bottled at a natural 61%, without chill-filtration or colouring. It is a vatting of three hogsheads, and 1,000 bottles were filled. The malt was peated to 50 ppm with mainland Aberdeenshire peat and distilled twice. The whisky spent four and a half years in new American white oak, then a further three years and two months in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Barbecue sauce, tobacco leaf and smoked Ibérico ham open the nose, with ripe blackberries and poached plums. Sweet barbecue smoke, grilled pineapple and banana lead the palate, followed by roasted coffee beans, dried apricot and flamed orange zest. The finish is long and warming, with sweet tobacco, dark chocolate and raisins.
