Glasgow 1770 The Original 1st Fill Ex-Bourbon Casks, Virgin Oak Cask Finish (70cl, 46%)

This is Glasgow 1770 The Original, an unpeated, double-distilled Lowland single malt, bottled in 2023 at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to the Signature Range and goes back to the distillery's first whisky, released in 2018. The whisky matured first in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, then spent about six months in new American white oak from Kelvin Cooperage in Kentucky. It is non-chill-filtered, and its colour comes from the casks alone. Dried dark fruit with tropical hints leads the nose, followed by biscuit, oak and fresh-cut grass. The palate has sweet butterscotch, crème brûlée crust, pear, figs, dates, raisins, almond and honey. The finish is long, with orange marmalade, nutmeg and light spice.
