This is Batch #1 of The Original Cask Strength from Glasgow Distillery, a vatting of three casks of its unpeated, twice-distilled single malt. It is bottled at natural cask strength, 61.3%, and the batch runs to 750 bottles.
The whisky matured first in first fill ex-bourbon casks, then received a finish in heavily charred new American white oak. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose is described as bitter orange marmalade, dried apricot, toffee apple and fresh oak. The palate is rich, with poached pear, roasted pineapple, malt pastry, marzipan, clove and aniseed. The finish is long, with flamed orange peel, oak spice and a little liquorice.
