Glen Breton Battle of the Glen is a 15 year old Canadian single malt from Glenora Distillery in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, matured in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels. It was bottled in 2010 at 43% ABV as a limited edition of 4,200 bottles, in a 750ml bottle.
The name marks Glenora's nine-year legal battle with the Scotch Whisky Association, which sued in 2000 over the word "Glen" and lost in 2009. The packaging carries press clippings from the coverage.
Orange zest and honey with subtle smoke show on the nose. The palate brings pepper, cedar, lemon zest, hazelnut and maple over a rich malt core, and the finish is long and warming, with oak spice and dried fruit.
