Glen Elgin – 11 Year Old Napa Valley Chardonnay Barrique

This is a single cask Glen Elgin, aged 11 years and bottled by Blind Summit Whisky. It spent its first ten years in a bourbon hogshead, which gave honeyed Speyside character and waxy orchard fruit. It was then re-racked for a year into a Napa Valley Chardonnay barrique, where it took on almond, yellow fruit and ginger. It is the bottler's first whisky matured in white wine casks. The nose offers peach, dried mirabelle plum, apricot and almond croissant. The palate is creamy, with lemon curd, pear, chamomile honey and frangipane, and the finish is long, with plum and ginger spice.
