This is a 13 year old Glen Elgin from Speyside, distilled in 2010 and bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 85.85 under the name Those Aren't Regulation Tyres. It comes from a bourbon cask that was finished in Oloroso, and 240 bottles were filled at 58.9% ABV.
The nose shows sherbet straws, toffee, white chocolate mice and lime cocktails, with a perfumed silk scarf draped over freshly steamed oak. The palate is sweet, with banana toffee, cinnamon swirls, American candy corn, battenberg cake, apricot jam and stroopwafels, plus hints of tobacco and verbena. Water brings out banana splits, vanilla slice and marshmallows.
