Glen Elgin Peated Islay Cask Finish is a Speyside single malt bottled by Murray McDavid as Cask Craft Batch 1, at 44.5% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and without added colour.
The Glen Elgin itself is unpeated, with fresh fruit and sweet grain. It was finished in ex-Islay hogsheads from Caol Ila, so the smoke comes from the cask and adds sweet smoke and sea spray.
The nose offers gentle coastal smoke, ginger, citrus, honey and green apple with a little vanilla. The palate is lightly oily, with ginger, yellow fruit, apple, honey and malted barley alongside mild embers. The finish is long, with lemon peel, honey and ginger.
