Glen Mhor 49 1973/2023 - Gordon & MacPhail - The Recollection Series #2 - Refill Sherry Hogshead

This Glen Mhor is a 49 year old single malt from Gordon & MacPhail, released as The Recollection Series #2. It was distilled on 30 April 1973 at Glen Mhor, which closed in 1983, and matured in a refill sherry hogshead until it was bottled in January 2023. The single cask yielded 170 bottles, and the whisky is of natural colour, a deep mahogany brown. The nose offers blackberries, sweet dates, chocolate and old oak spice, with a faint touch of menthol. The palate brings ripe cherries, raspberries, dates and almonds, with a note of leather. The finish is spiced with nutmeg and leaves dark forest fruits.
