Glen Scotia – 18 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

This is an 18-year-old Campbeltown single malt from Glen Scotia, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The whisky spent 17 years in refill bourbon barrels and refill American oak hogsheads. The master blender selected the casks and married them, then the whisky had a further twelve months in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks. The finish shapes the malt without covering its maritime Campbeltown character. It is unpeated. On the nose, clear saltiness sits with perfumed blossom, sweet honey and salted caramel. The palate is soft and full, with dense toffee, apricot, pineapple and plump sultanas, and a gentle warming spice throughout. The finish is long and dry.
