Glen Scotia – 2014/2025 1st Fill Bourbon Cask #1963 Behind the Blue Doors (70cl, 55.7%)

This Glen Scotia is a heavily peated single malt from Campbeltown, distilled in 2014 and matured in a first fill bourbon barrel, #1963. In 2025 the distillery filled 225 bottles from the cask at a cask strength of 55.7%, in 70cl bottles. It is natural colour and non-chill-filtered. It is one of three heavily peated single casks in Behind the Blue Doors Classic Series No. 1, a series of five. Peter Greve and Stephan Ehmke chose the casks together with Glen Scotia's Master Distiller Iain McAlister. The nose has ripe mango, yellow plum and icing sugar with burnt cinnamon. On the palate are vanilla fudge and cigar tobacco with dense smoke and pronounced minerality. The finish is long, warm and sweet, with the smoke lingering.
