Glen Scotia 25 Year Old (70cl, 48.8%)

This is a 25 year old single malt from Glen Scotia, the Campbeltown distillery, bottled at 48.8% in a 70cl bottle and presented in a wooden box. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. It is a limited release, and it won Best in Show at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2021. The whisky was matured in selected bourbon casks of American oak. The vatted whiskies then spent at least a further twelve months in first-fill bourbon casks. The nose is fresh sea air with fine vanilla and oak and spicy fruit. On the palate, maritime notes run alongside red apple and zesty orange peel, with vanilla syrup and caramel for sweetness. The long finish keeps sea salt and ground ginger.
