Glen Scotia – Double Cask Limited Rum Cask Edition (70cl, 46%)

This is a limited Double Cask Edition from Glen Scotia, the Campbeltown distillery. It is a single malt in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV, without chill-filtration or added colour. The whisky matures first in first-fill bourbon barrels, then spends at least eight months finishing in former Demerara rum casks from Guyana. The rum finish nods to Campbeltown's past as a trading port, where rum casks were already being offered for sale in 1815, before Glen Scotia was founded. The nose brings caramelised sugar, tropical fruit and a note of sea spray. On the palate are boiled sugar and molasses with coconut, banana and sweet peach, and the finish keeps warming spice and maritime notes.
