Glenallachie – 2008 17 Year Old Cadenhead's (70cl, 46%)

This Glenallachie was distilled in 2008 and fully matured for 17 years in refill sherry butts. Cadenhead's bottled it at 46% in a 70cl bottle, from an outturn of around 600 bottles, without chill-filtration or added colour. Glenallachie was founded in 1967 in the village of Aberlour, at the foot of Ben Rinnes, and its first run followed the next year. The nose brings Medjool dates, mocha, nutmeg, walnut, pistachio, heather and passion fruit. On the palate come cinnamon, ginger, marzipan, butterscotch and pumpernickel, and the finish carries aniseed, brandied cherries, rye toast and dark chocolate.
