Glenallachie – 9 Year Old Wine Series Cuvée Cask Finish (48%)

This is a 9 year old Glenallachie from the Wine Series, a limited edition finished in red wine casks. The whisky was distilled in 2012 and matured in ex-bourbon casks before moving into four European red wine barriques, from Valpolicella, Languedoc and two Premier Cru Classés. Master Distiller Billy Walker chose the four casks, and the development of each was monitored before the whiskies were blended together as the Cuvée Cask Finish. It is bottled at 48% abv. The nose is orange blossom, espresso and honeysuckle. Dark chocolate, redcurrants, burnt coffee beans, blackberries and orange zest follow on the palate.
