Glenallachie – Chinquapin Virgin Oak Finish 10 Year Old Batch 2 (48%)

This is a 10-year-old Glenallachie single malt from batch 2 of the Virgin Oak series, bottled at 48%. It is of natural colour and has not been chill-filtered. The whisky was first matured in ex-Bourbon American oak casks, then finished in Chinquapin oak (Quercus muehlenbergii) from the Northern Ozark region of Missouri. The wood was air-dried for nearly four years and given a medium toast before it was filled. The result is a complex, lively malt with runny honey, soft cinnamon and orange peel.
