Glencadam – Portwood Finish 17 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

This is a 17 year old Highland single malt from Glencadam, finished in port casks. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtering and with its natural colour, which shows as a rosé pink. Glencadam Distillery opened in 1825, and the whole range is bottled at this strength. The port finish gives this expression its colour and its fruit-led character. The nose is bold and rich, with red fruits, maraschino cherries, marzipan and Christmas spices. On the palate come dark berry fruit and bramble jam with walnut, coffee grounds and clove, plus a hint of cigar smoke. The finish is woody and warming, with chocolate cherry liqueur, cinnamon and nutmeg.
