Glendalough – 7 Year Old Mizunara Oak Finish

An Irish single malt whiskey aged for seven years by Glendalough. It was matured first in American oak bourbon casks, then moved into casks made from Japanese Mizunara oak to finish. Mizunara is a rare wood and a demanding one for coopers to work with. In this bottling it brings a fragrant, complex character to the whiskey. The nose offers sandalwood, orange zest, vanilla pod and milk chocolate. On the palate the chocolate carries on, joined by toasted cinnamon, five-spice, juicy apricot and nectarine. The finish brings flaky pastry, brown sugar, lemon peel and anise.
