A 17 year old Glendronach distilled in 1979 and bottled by the SMWS under the code 96.3, at 51.9% ABV. It has a red mahogany colour.
The nose is in the heavily sherried style of older Glendronach, with gunpowder, soy sauce, dried porcini, cigars and Spanish ham, plus Cointreau in coffee. Water brings out parsley and beef bouillon.
The palate is big and sweet, with raisins, sugared mocha, leather and spice, then pepper, ginger and cinnamon. The finish is long and a little sweeter.
