This Glendronach is a 27 year old single cask from Batch 16, distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2017 at 50.9%. It was matured in a Pedro Ximénez sherry puncheon, and the cask yielded 641 bottles.
The nose is of dark raisins, treacle, old leather, rich plums, roasted nuts and a hint of mocha. The palate is full and oily, with a strong Pedro Ximénez influence: dark chocolate, fig jam, dates, burnt sugar and spices over a subtle woody texture.
The finish is long and warming, with sherry syrup, plums and soft spices that linger.
