A single cask Glendronach, distilled in 1994 and bottled in April 2022 at 27 years old. It matured in an Oloroso puncheon, cask 7470, and was hand-filled at the distillery at 52.6% ABV.
Glendronach stands at Forgue, near Huntly in Aberdeenshire, and was founded in 1826.
The nose is old, heavy sherry with syrupy dark fruit, ripe cherries, plums in alcohol, rum cake, baked apple and roasted almonds. The palate is full-bodied, with dark chocolate, deep fruit and a touch of espresso. Water brings out red fruit and softens the oak. The finish is very long, with candied orange peel, plum, berries and old oak.
