A single cask GlenDronach, distilled on 2 March 1972 and matured for 39 years in an Oloroso sherry butt. It was bottled in July 2011 at 49.9% ABV, and the cask yielded 466 bottles. This is Batch 4, and it received top recognition at the 2011 Malt Maniacs Awards.
The nose combines rose, passion fruit ganache, raspberry jam and leather, with faint gunpowder and mint. On the palate it opens with Christmas cake, dates and raisins, then moves to tangerine, guava and chocolate liquorice. The mouthfeel is silky and dry, and the long finish mixes fruit, spice and leather.
