GlenDronach – Port Wood (70cl, 46%)

GlenDronach Port Wood is a Highland single malt bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. Its style was inspired by the arrival of Port in Scotland in the 19th century. The whisky is first matured in Pedro Ximenez and oloroso sherry casks, then given a second maturation in Port pipes from Portugal's Douro Valley. The Port casks add a deep cherry-wood colour. The nose offers Victoria plum, bramble and sandalwood. On the palate come layers of rich fruit, roasted apple crumble and gingerbread, followed by baked orange and black cherry in the finish.
