GlenDronach – Traditionally Peated (70cl, 48%)

A peated single malt from GlenDronach, bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie made it on the principles laid down by the founder, James Allardice, recalling the old Highland custom of burning peat in the kiln towards the end of malting the barley. It was matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry, Oloroso sherry and port casks. Its colour comes naturally from slow maturation in Spanish oak. The nose is Highland toffee and molasses with dark honey and charcoal-smoked barley. On the palate come burnt orange and molasses, with cloves and smoked blackberries. The finish is long and earthy, with liquorice and dark fruit.
