Glengoyne – 15 Year Old Highland Single Malt (70cl, 43%)

This is a 15 year old Highland single malt from Glengoyne, a distillery that aims to distil more slowly than any other in Scotland and dries its barley with air rather than peat. The whisky matures in hand-selected sherry casks. Rich, spicy flavours from the wood are balanced by notes of vanilla, and the result is a sweet, rounded malt with a spicy oak finish. The colour is a bright gold. On the nose, sweet lemon gives way to warm toffee popcorn. The palate is oily and mouth-coating, with sweet citrus, nuts and a pinch of cinnamon, followed by a complex, rounded finish with spicy oak.
