This is Glenmorangie 10 Year Old, a Highland single malt from the 1980s, in a 1 litre bottle. Its colour is straw.
The nose is fresh, with unexpected smoke and a flinty, mineral edge, turning grassier and waxier with gooseberries and butter pears.
The palate is sweet, thick and creamy, with malt and a few salty touches, alongside toasted bread, coffee, crème brulée and overripe apples. In the finish the saltiness and maltiness both grow.
