Glenmorangie – 12 Year Old The Accord (1L, 43%)

This is a 12 year old Highland single malt from Glenmorangie, in a one-litre bottle at 43%. The Accord marries two separately matured parts: whisky from bourbon casks and whisky from Oloroso sherry casks. The bourbon casks contribute a soft, fruity side, while the Oloroso adds sweetness and spice. The nose brings raisins, toffee, brown sugar and baked apple, then milk chocolate, orange, vanilla and butterscotch. On the palate a syrupy texture leads to sugared plums, almonds, brown sugar, creamy cappuccino, toffee apple and dates. The finish moves from wood and leather to gentle nutmeg, clove and ginger.
