Glenmorangie – 1979-1995 Limited Edition (70cl, 40%)

This is a Highland single malt from Glenmorangie, distilled in 1979 and bottled in 1995 at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It was the first of two small-batch releases of the vintage, with a second following in 1996. The whisky matured for around 15 or 16 years entirely in traditional oak casks, with no secondary wine-cask finish, even though Glenmorangie was by then known for wine-cask finishing. The 1970s vintages are known for sweet malt, gentle fruit and subtle hints of smoke and coastal salinity.
