This is a 14 year old single malt from Glenmorangie, matured in casks that previously held Cognac.
The nose is fresh and sweet, with green toffee apples, marzipan and fudge, then macadamia nuts and rum and raisin ice cream. Toasted oak gives way to treacle and a hint of tar.
On the palate come apples, vanilla ice cream and a touch of Parma violets, followed by heavier oak and sun-dried raisins. The finish carries well-worn leather and walnut.
