Glenmorangie – Sherry Wood Finish (70cl, 43%)

This is a Glenmorangie single malt from the distillery's earlier wood-finished range, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The bottle is thought to date from around 2000, and that range came to an end in 2004. The whisky is 12 years old, with its last two years spent in Oloroso sherry casks, although the label carries no age statement. The finish shows how much a cask can change a whisky: the distillery character stays present, while the Oloroso is easy to pick out. It is usually described as a sweet, salty dram with the Glenmorangie profile in the background.
