Glenmorangie 'Traditional' is a 100 proof single malt, an official distillery bottling from around 2004, in a one-litre bottle at 57.2% ABV. It is pale straw in colour.
The nose starts grassy and farmy, with whiffs of peat and rubber and some very floral notes of lilac and buttercup. Vanilla fudge and butter caramel emerge after a while. The palate has a strong, punchy attack of caramel, cold tea and malt, along with cooked apple, caramelised pear, cassata and violet sweets. The finish is long and bold.
