A single cask Glenrothes from the independent bottler North Star Spirits, released as number 012 in its Cask Series. It was distilled in January 2008 and matured for 12 years in a first-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead, then bottled in 2020 at a cask strength of 62.2% ABV. Only 323 bottles were filled.
North Star Spirits was founded in Glasgow in 2016 by Iain Croucher.
The nose offers toasted teacakes, melted butter and a touch of honeyed cereal. On the palate there is chocolate raisin with treacle, and the finish brings intense dried fruit, black pepper and nutmeg.
