Glenrothes – 1974/2021 47 Year Old Cask 9973 Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection (70cl, 45.5%)

This Glenrothes is a Speyside single malt from the Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection. It was distilled on 10 June 1974 and matured for 47 years in a single cask, number 9973, before bottling on 22 December 2021. The cask gave 126 bottles at 45.5%, without colouring or chill-filtration, each presented in a dark wooden case. The notes describe ripe Speyside fruit, honey and vanilla on the nose, with spice and finely polished oak. The palate is silky and deep, with dried fruit, caramel, nuts and spicy oak. The finish is long and dry, with fruit sweetness and aged wood.
