Glenrothes – 1974 47 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection Cask 9973 (70cl, 45.5%)

This is a single cask Glenrothes from the Speyside, distilled on 10 June 1974 and bottled on 22 December 2021 by Gordon & MacPhail for its Private Collection. It matured for 47 years in a refill sherry hogshead, cask 9973, and 126 bottles were filled. It is bottled at natural cask strength of 45.5%, without chill-filtering or added colour, and comes in a wooden presentation box. The nose is dry fruit and spice with a touch of vanilla. On the palate it is full-bodied, with caramel and oak and a subtle background of smoke. The finish is long, spicy and warm.
