Glenrothes – 1986 36 Year Old North Star Spirits (70cl, 44.1%)

A 36-year-old Speyside single malt from Glenrothes, distilled in 1986 and bottled by North Star Spirits in late 2022 for its 20th Cask Series. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 44.1%. The whisky matured in a refill hogshead that yielded 220 bottles, and it was bottled without colouring or chill filtration. It was the oldest cask North Star bottled in 2022. The tasting notes describe rooibos tea, thick bracken and tablet on the nose, followed by dry vanilla, raspberry and banana skin on the palate.
